Playable Race – Human (Vagabond)

The Oceans of Contest are home to a large population of humans. These come in 2 primary factions; the Vagabonds that live under the protection of the 3 Pirate Lords, and the Herculean's of Athens. The Vagabonds live chaotic lives plundering and pillaging the territories of fellow humans and have adapted to excel on the high seas.

5e Conditions Expansion!

In this post I'll be presenting some new conditions that are interesting to use but not so brutal they ruin a players fun, as well as reworking the poisoned condition to match the thematic nature of it.

Warlock Archetype – Pirate Lord

Warlocks that make a Pirate Lord their patron are blessed with powerful tools from which to channel their dark magics. Dark, magical pistols, nefarious magics and the dreaded black spot are all powerful tools that a Pirate Lord Warlock can utilise to terrorise their foes.

Playable Race – Aquatalis

The first Aquatalis where violent, destructive humans, cursed by the ocean itself to take on the characteristics of the ocean creatures they had treat with such disrespect. Now the warped, broken bodies of their ancestors have become powerful boons, allowing them to rule the seas with unrivalled strength.

Playable Race – Otterkin

Otterkin are masters of life in the water, living in small, family-sized communities. They spend much of their life beneath the water, avoiding the ridiculous drama of the surface dwellers.

Veneon Class – Brawler

Brawlers are a melee-focused martial class that rely on their powerful fists, improvised weapons and devastating throws to overpower their enemies. As combat rages on, they build up momentum which allows them to perform powerful techniques, usually determined by their speciality.

Fighter Archetype – Spartan

Spartans are the elite warriors of Mount Olympus. Exceedingly skilled in a small number of focused weapons, they deal out death with ease. While all fighters are skilled with a range of weapons, Spartans are exceptionally proficient with a few choice weapons that are used in their national fighting style.

Creatures of Veneon – Scuttlers

Scuttlers is the name used to refer to the giant undead insects that plague the jungles and temples of Floodplains. They come in all variety of insect, yet typically grow much larger than should be possible. From 10ft long centipedes to hulking beetles the size of rhinos, Scuttles would be a fearsome threat, even without the undead enhancements they benefit from.

Playable Race – Froggoth

Froggoth are an elusive race of amphibian humanoids that live beneath the surfaces of the many rivers and lakes of the Floodplains. It is in their solitary lifestyles that they find the means to thrive in this harsh, aquatic landscape.

Providers of the Floodplains – Background Options

One of the most respected, proficient occupations within the Floodplains is Hunter-Gatherer. If you are someone that provides for your community, you are someone with potential for greatness. From Fisherman to Diver, the first signs of a reputable figure come from these heroic backgrounds.

Fighter Archetype – Spectral Pirate

Spectral Pirate's are fiercely loyal combatants that have sworn fealty to one of the three great Pirate Lords. In return their patron gifts them impressive boons to control the battlefield and fight dirty. Unlike a regular pirate, Spectral Pirates are able to manifest temporary, ethereal tools in a pinch to sway a chaotic battle.

Playable Race – Goblin (Paddler)

The Goblin subspecies known as 'Paddlers' are the most populated race in the floodplains. They live upon large floating cities that roam the landscape in search of new food, which is subsequently ravaged in moments by the starved population.

Beast Companions From The Hammerlands

The Hammerlands is home to a vast variety of fierce beasts, many of which can be domesticated by a brave or lucky hero. In this blog I'd provide 4 creatures that your party could find while exploring the Hammerlands and welcome as a beast companion.

Wizard Archetype – School of Precipitation

Wizards of the School of Precipitation are masters of aquatic casting and uniquely skilled in collecting excess arcane energy for the purposes of reusing the power. When they cast a spell, they can pluck the arcane power before it dissipates and form rumbling magical clouds above them.

Playable Race – Sodden

Sodden are tall, ape-like humanoids with a thick layer of dense fur. They have a bright red hue to their skin which is only exposed on their faces and hands. They are a tall, lanky race that grows to around 6 feet in height while not putting on much muscle.

Rogue Archetype – The Vulture

Vultures are masters of taking the discarded remains of others and finding a way to make them into useful boons that help them overwhelm their foes with unpredictable changes to their fighting style.

Magic Item – Cape of the Storm Chaser (& more)

Magic items are by design, intentional rewards designed to buff your players. They can reward them with buffs, new features, special one-time effects, or even changes to their existing powers. This intentional and purposeful nature allows the DM to be careful and strategic with when the rewards are given and it's because of this, that they are the ideal method for introducing new mechanics to a character's spells.
