Old Storage Complex

This map was used in a recent one shot and will appear soon in a Veneon Reforged campaign diary. It is a small dungeon designed for level 2 characters.

Clearing the Storage Complex

The Old Storage Complex is a dusty building hidden in the back of the orchard. It was once used for storing fruits and dried goods but fell into disrepair as the number of students dwindled and its use was no longer needed. In its isolated position, there’s no telling what might have taken up residence there now.

The building is 12ft high, with stained wooden walls and sliding doors. The bamboo roof still holds strong but as seen some damage due to weathering and a lack of maintenance. A white cat lazily basks in the morning sun.

A1 – Entrance

Decrepit wooden walls and cracked wooden floorboards make up this large storage room. Large crates and barrels have been stacked haphazardly and the dust and cobwebs show signs of abandonment. Unlit torches are affixed to the northern and southern walls. A set of sliding wooden doors can be found on the eastern wall and another set lay buried beyond a mountain of crate on the western wall.

Exploration:
Search – DC 12: Areas of the wooden floor are especially weak and show signs of collapse at the slightest bit of weight.
Search – DC 0: The barrels and crates once contained food items but they’ve been left to rot for so long that the contents of the containers is now unidentifiable.

Encounters:
While there are no creatures currently in this room, the floorboards by the eastern doors were intentionally weakened by the Gremlins that now live here. This hazard is represented by the Crumbling Floor hazard, however they only fall about 4 feet.

A2 – Abandoned Brewery

Several huge casks lay abandoned in this derelict brewery. The sharp scent of soured alcohol hangs like vinegar in the air and the wooden planks of the floor are splintered and uneven. Two sets of double doors can be seen to the north and the west of the room.

Exploration:
Search – DC 16: Beneath the crooked floorboards you can see the signs of makeshift snares.
Investigation – Society DC 18: This brewery once produced a lovely cherry blossom sake that was as delicious as it was flammable.

Loot:
The party can find one Moderate Alchemist Fire (using the flamable leftover alcohol).

Encounters:
Along side two prepared snares Hampering Snare (bottom skull) and Battering Snare (top skull), there are two Grimples, one Vexgit and a Giant Rat hiding in the room. They will attack as soon as the heroes trigger one of the snares, or if they try to leave through either of the doors.
The Giant Rat and Vexgit fight until dead but the Grimples try to hide and avoid notice if they’re reduced below 4HP.

A3 – Infested Crates

Piles of crates and barrels are heaped in messy, disorganised piles around this large room. Unlit torches decorate the walls and a set of sliding wooden doors sit in the northern wall. Moreso than the rest of the building, the floor has several areas of severe damage.

Exploration:
Search – DC 15: Many of the crates and barrels have been partially destroyed and piles of sawdust lay in rotting piles around these areas.
Search – DC 17: The ground in front of the cabinet seems raised slightly higher than the rest of the ground and the cabinet doors are bulging dangerously.

Investigation – Nature DC 15: The way the floor and crates have been eroded looks more akin to an insects gnawing.

Encounters:
Along side the Collapsing Cabinet in the entrance, there are five Khefak Scuttlers that live in the room and feed on the wooden containers. Their presence has kept the Gremlins from coming any further into this area that the doorway.
The Khefak Scuttler will fight until dead but only pursue the heroes if they enter area A4.

A4 – Rotting Fresh Goods

This room stinks of rot and mould. Crates of what was once fruit and veg now contain a mess of rotten sludge.

Exploration:
Search – DC 10: One of these food sacks is still intact enough to be hauled around.

Loot:
The party can find one Sack of Rotten Fruit.

A5 – Gremlin Den

A near ceiling-high wall of crates blocks off the majority of this room, preventing sight of what’s beyond. The smell of dust and dirt fill the air, and dried vomit is spattered around a small crawlspace through the blockade.

Exploration:
Search – DC 14: The disgusting mix of vomit and dust has created a make-shift cement, making this hap-hazard wall much sturdier than it should be.
Investigation – Nature DC 15: The setup is typical of a Gremlin’s nest and they will likely defend this place to the death.

Encounters:
Three Grimple and Two Vexgit (one Elite) defend their nest beyond the wall. They’ll use the wall to their advantage, walking freely through the tiny tunnel, attacking, and then retreating. Should someone try to crawl through the tunnel, the Grimple will vomit on them.

The Medium or Small creatures can Crawl through the tunnel if they wish to pass the wall.

Loot:
Within the Gremlin nest, the party can find a selection of stolen items: 1 Cheetah’s Elixir (Lesser), 1 Deadweight Mutagen (Lesser), 1 Predator’s Claw, 2 Healing Potion (Minor), 2 Jade, 1 Garnet, 1 Bo Staff.
