Playable Race – Eladrin (Blood)

The Eladrin are an elegant, fey race of humanoids that live extremely long lives and have a magical connection to nature. The Blood Eladrin find their connection to nature manifest in the form of blood manipulation, both of themselves and of other living creatures.

Alien and Alluring

With their unearthly grace and fine features, the Blood Eladrin are elegant, proud humanoids. They appear hauntingly beautiful to most other races and while slightly shorter and more slender than humans, their movements flow with an innate control.

Blood Eladrins’ colouration includes shades of pale pinks and reds, or dark browns and purples. Their hair matches this colour motif, yet also includes more vibrant hues. Eladrin have no facial and very little body hair. They favour elegant clothing in bright colours, and they enjoy simple yet lovely jewellery.

Civilization in an Uncivilized World

Bloodflow is a Realm created to encourage selfish acts of survival and life can be difficult for anyone that tries to establish a permanent settlement. However, this hasn’t stopped the Blood Eladrin from constructing a single, secure city. This sole urban location within Bloodflow acts as a single safe haven for cross-realm travellers or those seeking shelter from the endless loop of fighting and feeding.

A ruling figure has been elected by the Blood Eladrin. An elder that was alive when the great city of Galadil was founded, Naivara maintains peace within the city at all costs. The majority of Eladrin respect and enforce the laws of the city, which means most of the trouble comes from foreign visitors, not understanding or respecting the need for these laws.

Eladrin (Blood) Names

Eladrin are considered children until they declare themselves adults, some time after the hundredth birthday, and before this period they are called by child names.

On declaring adulthood, an Eladrin selects an adult name, although those who knew him or her as a youngster might continue to use the child name. Each Eladrin’s adult name is a unique creation, though it might reflect the names of respected individuals or other family members. Little distinction exists between male names and female names; the groupings here reflect only general tendencies. You may choose a name from the following list or come up with your own.

Eladrin (Blood) Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Intelligence increases by 1.

Age. Eladrin mature at the age of 80 and live until the age of 1000.

Alignment. Blood Eladrin are long-lived, intelligent people that survive using their minds instead of relying on physical advantages. They tend towards lawful alignments.

Size. Blood Eladrin grow to a height of 6 feet. Your size is medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Fey and Hieroglyphic.

Freeze Circulation. As an action, you can target a living creature that has blood, within 30ft. This creature must succeed a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + Cha modifier + Proficiency bonus) or have disadvantage on attack rolls until the end of its next turn. You can use this feature 3 times and you regain this ability after taking a long rest.

Redirect Bloodflow. As a bonus action, you can drain the blood from your brain and redirect it to your body. For 1 minute, your Intelligence score is reduced by 6 and your Strength score increases by 6. During this time, your movement speed is also increased by 10ft. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.

Bloody Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill. In addition, you have blindsight at a range of 30ft, this blindsight only reveals creatures with blood.

Trance. Eladrin don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
