Playable Race – Goblin (Frenzied)

The Goblin subspecies known as ‘Frenzied’ are not native to Bloodfire. They are one of the few races that began life in another Realm and (unwillingly) ended up in Bloodflow. The Frenzied Goblins were once Paddler Goblins from the Floodplains but for better or worse, have found themselves stranded in Bloodflow and warped into an even crueller, greedier cousins of their green-skinned kin.

Angular and Angry

Frenzied Goblins have been given a trial by tooth and claw since they arrived in Bloodflow. While still small and skinny in stature, their bodies have become crooked and their skin has grown taut. This gives the Frenzied goblins a malnourished and gaunt appearance.

Their green skin has been tinted red by generations of exposure to rivers stained with blood. Scars litter their bodies like an abstract map of failed hunts.

As proficient killers, the Frenzied Goblins have a steady supply of skins and bones. It’s from these gory materials that the Goblins craft their clothes and armours. They, unfortunately, lack the patience or skill to prepare the hides properly, so many will wear freshly flayed skin, expecting to replace it when it inevitably rots away.

Swarms of Goblins

The Frenzied Goblins gained their name from the disturbing, unhinged tactics they use in combat. More akin to piranhas than humanoids, they rush towards their prey relentlessly, swarming and overwhelming the poor creature unfortunate enough to cross their path.

Perhaps a remnant of the life in the Floodplains, they don’t make stationary settlements. Instead preferring to constantly travel and build temporary camps each night, made from the corpses of the day’s victims. There is no form of leadership in these groups that can range from a dozen goblins to a massive hoard of hundreds. Instead, they seem to rely entirely on herd mentality. As one Goblin moves north, the rest follow, unthinking. Just eager to find the next meal.

Final Thoughts

Thanks for reading! These guys took a lot of work to make them similar to the Paddlers while considering the changes they’d have to face to survive in Bloodflow. I think things worked out well though and I’m happy with where they’re at mechanically and lore-wise.
