In a Realm of endless rain, it’s little surprise that rainclouds would become the inspiration for a powerful school of wizards. Wizards of the School of Precipitation are masters of aquatic casting and uniquely skilled in collecting excess arcane energy for the purposes of reusing the power. When they cast a spell, they can pluck the arcane power before it dissipates and form rumbling magical clouds above them. They can then recycle this excess magical energy for both offensive and defensive purposes.

Enchanted Clouds
(2nd-level School of Precipitation feature)
When you cast a spell of level 1 or higher, the excess arcane energy rises and forms into magical clouds. The Enchanted Clouds have a 30ft radius focused around the wizard and move with them. Each spell cast adds one charge to the Enchanted Cloud. You can expend charges to perform one of the below actions:
- Lightning Strike – As a bonus action, choose a target creature within 30ft, they must succeed a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6 force damage per Enchanted Cloud charge you expend, or half as much on a success.
- Acid Rain – As a bonus action, choose a 15ft area within the range of your Enchanted Cloud. Creatures within that area suffer from -1 AC per Enchanted Cloud charge you expend until the start of their next turn.
You can hold a maximum of 5 Enchanted Cloud charges. This increases to 10 at level 8 and 15 at level 17. Once combat ends, the cloud and all held charges dissipate.
Affinity for Water
(2nd-level School of Precipitation feature)
At 2nd level, you gain an affinity for the element of water. You gain resistance to cold damage as well as a swim speed of 30ft.
Aquatic Caster
(6th-level School of Precipitation feature)
At level 6, you learn to cast more efficiently while underwater. When casting a spell underwater, your spells have double the effective range.
In addition, you can expend 3 charges of Enchanted Clouds to give the spells target disadvantage on the saving throw, when applicable.
Raincatcher
(10th-level School of Precipitation feature)
At level 10 you learn to reactively use the ambient magics of your Enchanted Cloud to manipulate the attacks of others. Upon taking damage from an enemy attack or spell, as a reaction, you can expend your Enchanted Cloud charges to change 1d6 of the damage to cold damage, per charge expended.
Pool of Arcanum
(14th-level School of Precipitation feature)
At level 14 you can call upon the excess magic left by your allies’ spells to further bolster your Enchanted Clouds. When an allied creature casts a spell, this counts towards your charges of Enchanted Clouds.
Final Thoughts
Thanks for reading about the School of Precipitation wizard! I really want to make sure wizards in Veneon feel unique and are more than just mages that specialise in a certain school of magic. I want them to have unique mechanics just as diverse and engaging as any other class. If you want to see the creative process live you can join me and the community on Twitch or Discord.
Thank you for reading and may your next session be filled with glory!
